If someone can use subject lines, but doesn't want, guess what they do? They don't use them. If someone wants to use subject lines, but can do it no longer, guess what they do? they leave LJ. Hint: removing functionality is _not_ an improvement.

You went backward in functionality and improvement. Changing it just to change it isn't good. Not only is the look terrible but the process is slower and large communities will have a hard time sifting through comments.
I hope after the onslaught of comments and feedback of how terrible it is you will change it back to how it was. Feedback is essential to your business, listen to the majority of people that are active on the site. Thank you.
